Modern Sugar Blvd Release

A huge image release is happening today over at Modern Sugar Blvd!! 18 new images are available, along with a 25% off sale for this weekend! Gotta be a bargain hunter since gas prices just went up again! To get the sale price, visit the MSB blog and there is a link for the discount code. You will also be able to see a thumbnail of all the new images. I'll share a couple today....

First up is this pretty called Precious Maid. I typed the sentiment on the computer and she says, "Wanna tickle feathers?" A cute one to give your guy! wink wink! Anyway, I didn't have any black brads, so I colored them with a black marker and waited a bit for them to dry before putting onto the card.

My second card uses the Just Because image One Load at a Time. This one says: You make my heart spin!

Happy crafting!

Jazzy Inspirations 12

Some great colors for this weeks Jazzy Inspirations! Love my blues & greens! They are the colors I wear the most and that you'll find in my closet. Thanks Tenia!

Tomorrow (Saturday afternoon) over on the Modern Sugar Blvd blog, your challenge will be to make what ever you like!!! Pick your colors...pick your sketch...pick your fav Sugarlicious image! How easy can it be?! I used a new image that will be released tomorrow, along with many fantastic gals!!

Paper & ribbon are from Target $1 Spot, and the "Yipee!" is from Hero Arts.

Ahhhhh, hear that sound??? Wait, what sound? I don't hear anything. Right! No alarm clock on the weekdays!!! (at least not too often) School is out and I am done stripping down my classroom and don't need to go back next week!! Woohoo!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Friends...

If friends were flowers...I'd pick you! This card is a total case of one I found during PTI's blog hop the other night! Go see it at Stamping in the Light. I wish I had had some brown buttons for mine, but there was only one to be found! All PTI materials except for the ink and sentiment.

Tomorrow is the last day at school for students, then us teachers have an "official" 1/2 day on Friday. Most of us won't be done at that point and will spend the afternoon, and Monday....and Tuesday....

May Blog Hop

It's been a couple of months since I was able to participate in a PTI Blog Hop, and I'm happy it worked out this time! We were to use yellow somehow in our creation. I've used Lemon Tart as my card base, and for my ribbon. The DP from Polka Dot parade also has the yellow in it. I made this card for my Mom's birthday, which was yesterday. I wanted to make sure she saw it in person before seeing it on the blog!

The image is from Modern Sugar Blvd, and colored with a combination of markers and pencils. She is propped up on foam dots. Glitter was added to the frosting, and Glossy Accents to the cake plate...reminds me of milk glass items!

What gift?

This cute little elephant from Victoria Case Art Designs is trying to hide a gift behind his back, but you know something special is coming your way! I was lucky enough to win this digital stamp earlier this week for guessing a sneak peak! (Second time that's happened!!!) There was a release today with a little something for everyone...cute, cuddly, hunky, monsters....go take a look!

Lots of card making needs to be done tomorrow...before race times! Since I live in the "Indy viewing area", the 500 is delayed and shown during the evening :-( So, I'll be flipping back & forth between the Indianapolis 500 and the Nascar race while blurfing on the lap top after supper!

What is better for a birthday than a cupcake!!! No need to mess with a fork & plate...just grab one and eat! I always ask for white cupcakes with Quick as a Wink frosting (chocolate made with Semi-Sweet morsels) for my birthday. YUM-O!!

Saturday's challenge on the Modern Sugar Blvd blog is to use the sketch and brown, pink, and ivory. It's really been interesting to see what all my fellow sugars have come up with...using the same cupcake and colors...so much variety! Be sure to hop on over to the MSB blog Saturday afternoon to check it all out! Hmmmm, does something smell good in here??? (hint, hint)

Happy crafting,

Birds Galore!

This little bird is another image that will be released today by Modern Sugar Blvd. It took me two hours to make this card!!! I know...it looks very simple, but...I was trying to figure out how to use Photoshop to duplicate the bird image! I never did figure out how to "flip" the bird (hahaha) in Photoshop, so I did that in Paint because I've done it there before. I then figured out how to add the text, and did a little "play on words" for Happy Birthday. I ended up using this for DH's birthday this past Thursday. I would have felt just a little bit guilty buying a card!

I colored in all the little birds with colored pencils. I'm thinking I should print & color another to have the green bird on the bottom popped up for dimension. Check out what the rest of the design team have done with today's new images, and enter the challenge over on the MSB blog!

If anyone knows of some sites with easy Photoshop tutorials, please let me know!!

Stylish Chicken

I won this cute chicken image Saturday night from Victoria Case at her group page over on Card Universe. DD and I made a couple of guesses from a sneak peak and guessed correctly (after a couple of tries). Miss Chicken is out shopping for stamps! I added the sentiment "Style is Essential" when I printed it on the computer.

Victoria has some exciting news and a fabulous blog candy give away over on her blog. Head on over and check it out!

Modern Sugar Blvd Challenge

Ahhh....something that I love...a sketch challenge (and an easy one at that) and a color challenge that uses bright colors all rolled into one! Check out the challenge over at the Modern Sugar Blvd Blog today to see all the wonderful samples from the rest of the design team! Along with the sketch and sitting girl image, we were to use hot pink, turquoise, and lime green on our card. I had to laugh, because the day we received our info, the top I was wearing was turquoise with lime green and white!!

My girl was colored with Copics & Sharpie markers, then popped up on foam dots after cutting her out. I just love the bright, cheerful colors in this card! They are so "me"! Hope you can join us for the fun! I'm not sure what time the MSB post will go "live" as they are operating in Mountain Time Zone. So, be sure to check back a bit later if it's not there at first. I am scheduling this post ahead of time, as I will be gone from dawn to late afternoon participating in a May Day bird count.

Jazzy Inspirations 11

Good morning everyone! Guess what? I'm a "Jazz Cat of the Week" again!! I took a very literal approach to today's card. As I was putting it together, I decided I really like the combination of the red, yellow, and black. Don't think I've used that before. I created the border around the bird image using an EK Success border punch, then some of the "negative" scraps around my "thanks so much" phrase from PTI.

Go check out more inspiration over at Jazzy Inspirations and join us for this weeks fun challenge!

Mother's Day Cards

I had not planned on making any Mother's Day cards (other than one for my Mom), but I had a request from a friend at work for three, and two could be the same. These were made on Wednesday, and I've been waiting for sunny weather for picture taking......yep....none the last three days! It's been very rainy!

I printed the phrase on the computer as I do not have any stamps pertaining to Mother's Day. Used PTI Vintage Cream and Spring Moss card stock, and Vintage Cream ribbon. The DP is some that was gifted to me. Hero Arts pearls were added to each side of the sentiment.

The second card uses PTI's Spring Rain cardstock and ribbon. The flowers & DP were also gifted to me last summer. The sentiment is from Verve's "Hundred Hearts" set. "A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you" is what the embossed phrase says.

A full look at an image coming soon to Modern Sugar Blvd! "Dog-gone-it, I missed your birthday!" is what it says below the image. Perfect for a belated birthday!

I've been trying to work on some graduation and Mother's Day cards today, and will share those at a later day. It's rainy and gray, and I want to wait for the sunshine for my picture taking session!

Digi Challenges

I've been wanting to play along with Ellie's Digital Tuesday Challenge for several weeks, and have now finally got myself to do it! The theme for this week is "April Showers Bring May Flowers!" My image is from Dustin Pike...love his work! The layout is the sketch challenge for Dare U 2 Digi Stamp.

Haven't tried a digital image yet?? There are still a few free digital Brentwood's available over at Jessica Lynn Originals (yep....love those, too!).

Speaking of digital images, Modern Sugar Blvd had a couple of more releases this weekend of the "Sista's" & "Precious Pretties" lines. Lots of different styles available for all tastes! We'll also have a sketch challenge for you this weekend over at the MSB blog...look for it on Saturday!

Colorguard Brentwood

Molly on the Jessica Lynn Original DT blog issued an inspiration challenge to create something inspired by the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby. My take is probably a bit different than most. Back in high school, our marching band participated in the Kentucky Derby parade, and a field show competition. So, my card is inspired by that event!

I used my "Catching Fireflies" Brentwood, and masked off the jar & fireflies (put tape on them after inking up the stamp). I hand drew the flag he is holding, and used colors that were in one of my flags from the marching days.

I decided to be goofy and add to the Brentwood story line. He had such a good time being in color guard, that he tried out for the Madison Scouts Drum Corps. (they are real) The corps is based in Wisconsin, and that's how he meet Jessica (illustrator). They were friends only, since he was already dating Ruby.

If you make a Derby inspired card, please add the keyword JLOIC01 for Splitcoast.

City Girl

Here is a preview of a "soon to be released" image from Modern Sugar Blvd. City Girl knows what she wants...and has "power-tude" (yep-made that word up!) I might make up a little sentiment spot to add that says, "What attitude??" Be sure to check out the MSB Blog tomorrow for a brand new challenge! I've had a looky-see and it's right up my alley!!

My card fits the bill for the blue and green challenge over at A Spoonful of Sugar this week. I used papers that I picked up a couple of weeks ago in the Target $1 Spot. Just love bright & bold!
