Cupcake Challenge #33

My Mom asked me to make a birthday card for a friend of hers, but wasn't sure if she was going to mail it or hand deliver, or of fav colors. I'll be seeing her this weekend, and am going to take all the "birthday" cards that I have on hand, and let her pick. I made this one up tonight to add to the stash. I used the sketch for the week over at Cupcake Craft Challenges. The design paper is from Funky Fairys Papercrafts.

Twinkling Tuesday Twofer

My daughter likes to check out what some of the other young kiddos out there are doing (and we are both always amazed). She decided that this week she wanted to make a card that went along with Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesdays. We both played along, and my card is first, then hers.

Lily Fairy appears once again, this time with a bit of Aqua Stickles on the flower and her wings. Bic Mark-its were used for the dress and wings and a Copic E00 for her skin tones. The paper is DCWV Sweet Stack and had the ribbon/lace on the bottom of the page. There's also a lovely paisley design in the background. Prima flowers which match in real life, but not the picture.

Daughter picked a digi frog from Victoria Case Art Designs to color. I trimmed him up for her, and she used decorative scissors to create the mat. She used her own rhinestone stickers that she picked up at Target this summer. Hmmm, and with that said, I now notice I forget that part of the design on my card!! On the inside she wrote, "Have a hop-erific birthday!"

We cut some daffodils yesterday evening for in the house. Why? Because snow is now coming down sideways!

Perfect Match Color Challenge

The colors for Sara's Perfect Match Monday made me think "springtime!". I used stamps from Stampdendous that I picked up at Archiver's Thursday. Looked around my work area, and can't find the bag they were in to tell you set name!! I know it said it was an "Archiver's Exclusive" on the bag. Used colored pencils and baby oil to color the images, and added my own ground/grass. The bunny has fun flock on his tail, which isn't showing up too well in the photo.

DD has made a card, and we'll be back later today or tomorrow with that posting. She's very excited about sharing!

Mojo #79

It's been awhile since I've participated in a Mojo Monday challenge, and I decided I really should this week since I do have the little widget on the side of the blog! (Plus, this looked like an easy one for me!) It's been DD's spring break this week, and we went to Indy yesterday so she could use a gift card to a book store. We stopped in at an Archiver's & Michael's...never had been in either. Archiver's had lots of Basic Grey 6X6 pads which I just love, so I stocked up on, um, uh....several! I figured...we are only this way once or twice a year, so get 'em now! I made use of new paper and stamps in today's card!

New Challenge Blogs: Wanted to let you know about a couple of new challenge blogs that will soon be starting up. The first is Simon Says Challenge> sponsored by the store Simon Says Stamp. Their first challenge will be issued on April 1st (no fooling!!). The second challenge blog is Whimsy Stamps Challenges. Denise has a call out right now for Challenge DT members and the first challenge will be April 13th.

Happy Stamping!

Cute Mousie

I've noticed it's a bit easier for me to read if I use the "large" font here on blogger rather than the "normal". I'll probably just alternate what I use. If I think I'm going to be long winded, it'll be the smaller, "normal" size :-)

I used the Labels 1 Nestability to make my card. I did have to do a bit of hand cutting around the second layer, but PapertreyInk card stock is very thick! My mouse is a digi image from Shirley's 2 Girls that was a limited time (last weekend) free image.

I made this card using an image I colored this weekend. I tried to pick colors from my DP when coloring her in. The mat is a deep purple and matches the belt on Lily's dress. After stamping the sentiment on the card...I wished I had done it up a different way, but not sure just what. It says, "I believe in you". Thought it would be nice to have on hand for someone who might be facing a challenge, or getting ready to try something new.

Been busy!

Sigh....such a busy week! I haven't made a card at all this past week. I had two "from the state" visitors to my room Thursday, and Wednesday I went in early afternoon to make sure everything was all prepped and ready. Visit/observation went well, but I do major stressing before these things! I did go back and try and start a card, but I knew with my state of mind I was not going to be happy with anything! Yesterday I went to a scrapbook crop for a good chunk of the day...and made eight pages!! This is the first I've touched that book in about 1 1/2 years!!! Now...I don't get all fancy and add tons to my pages...I've too many pictures to do the "one per page" thing! I use the books and materials from Creative Memories, mostly. I did take along several stamped images that I colored...oh, just thought...one was due this evening for a challenge! Guess I won't enter that one!

Today was very beautiful, and I worked in the yard from 1:00 until about 8:00pm. Definitely got my exercise!! Picked up branches and twigs from the front yard, and carried to back to the brush pile. Only did one side of the yard. The mowing will start in just a few weeks, and I'm trying to get ready! Decided that it was not too breezy and worked on burning the brush pile. I also burned out the weeds in my veggie garden area. We try not to use many if any yard chemicals (except for on poison ivy!) and I don't do too well with keeping weeds away. We have a thistle problem and I have to be sure I have my leather gloves on when pulling!

The picture is from mid April back in 2006...

Fast Invite

Last night I quickly made a "fast, easy, and easy to mass reproduce" invitation for a Studio G challenge on Papercraft Planet. Imagine my surprise when I logged in the morning and found out I was the winner!!! I'll have a surprise arriving in the mail hopefully within a week! I used Sara's Perfect Match Color combo for this week...Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, and True Black. I really wanted to use all PTI products, but with the limited amount of stamps I have from them, going with something different worked best for me this week. Paper and ribbon are PTI, stamps and ink Studio G.

Look who was trying to "help" when I was setting up to take a picture...the real life Critter the Cat! I had tried some pictures last night, but they weren't so great. The sun was shining today, and often I'll put the photo cube in a "sun spot" for the picture taking. Naturally, Critter loves to lay in sun spots! I still had to mess with the color and saturation settings quite a bit to have the aqua mist look different than the ribbon.

Jazzy Inspirations 7

I was able to combine two challenges with this card...Jazzy Inspirations and a sketch challenge for Whimsy Stamps. As I was editing the picture, I noticed a stray little fuzzy from the flower...ug! The flower is from a package that I found in the Easter craft section at Hobby Lobby. They also have a little adhesive dot on the back so it was easy stuff to stick on the card!

Really, really hoping to get something done this weekend...both with house cleaning and card making! Daughter has had several evening activities this past week, and we haven't been home much.

Tea for You and Me

I bought this stamp sometime early fall, and never used till now. I'm a tea drinker, as is one of my best friends. Even though we now live 40 minutes apart, we see each other less than than when she lived three hours away in Louisville! She has two young ones who are 3 & 1, so she's busy and tired! Plus, has a very full time job. We don't even email very often anymore, and I thought this card would brighten her day! I used the StampTV sketch challenge and sentiment is from PTI Mailbox Greetings.

Okay, I've gotten several Facebook "invites" from friends (so I can view pictures of their kids). I've resisted getting an account because I've already lots to read and try to keep up on. When I go to the Facebook site, I can't see what it "looks like" without having an account. Do any of you have accounts? Tell me about it...does it have a similar format to Papercraft Planet or StampTV? Do you use it? Like it? Let me know...

Simple bird

Another double duty card... First for the Potluck Challenge over at StampTV, and second for Card Drive for the Victorian Families that Jennifer McGuire is helping with. I wanted a flat, lightweight card for mailing. I need to get this one and a couple more out tomorrow to make it to her by Friday. Really, it should only take one day from here...but when you want it there quickly, it doesn't happen!

Blog Candy Alert!!! Melissa is offering up some wonderful goodies and you have until March 17th to enter.

Courtney's Closet #33

I just love the flowers in Courtney's dress this week! (This is Libby's daughter, not mine) So bright, happy, and cheerful! I used colored pencils and baby oil to color my flower, which is from Hero Arts. Gina K's StampTV technique challenge this week is to color a picture using pencils and OMS (orderless mineral spirits).

Baby oil or Goo Gone also work if you don't have oms. I tried both the baby oil and Goo Gone, and didn't find much difference between the two. I've been doing a bit of practicing with this technique, and like the results with the purple. Four different shades of purple in the image. I also tried the same flower, but with an orange/yellow scheme, and the colors didn't blend/match as well.

The butterfly was not a planned item, there was going to be some ribbon...but I smudged up some of my sponging, and needed something to cover it up! Butterfly fit the bill.

PTI Thank you

This card was made back at the very end of August for a couple of friends at work. Haven't made anything here in the last few days due to some illness in the household. So, I thought I would share this one. I used PTI Floral Frenzy, and totally cased someone back when I made it. No blog back then, and of course I have no idea who I picked this up off of.... Even though I have not made anything, I have been trying to practice my coloring. Gee...ya would of thought I'd learned that back at five years old!! :-)

I want to give a great big, "Thank you!" to Libby for a fun rak she sent my way! Some cute little felt flowers in hot pink & red!!! Can't wait to find something to use them with. Be sure you check out "From Courtney's Closet" this week...Courtney has the cutest dress with flowers!

Looking forward to the weekend!!

Green Day

Sara's Perfect Color Match for this week is "Green Day" using PTI's Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, and New Leaf. I had my best success to date with embossing! This was the third try for the crocodile, and the best one! I'm a bit paranoid about catching my paper on fire, so I emboss in the kitchen so I can quickly run any flaming paper to the sink! Hopefully, this will never happen!

For my sketch, I used one from Jeanette's Sweet 'n Sassy sketch challenge last week during the SnS release party. With using both color & sketch challenges, this card came together very quick for me! Also, a bit more layers than my normal, but I'm feeling good about this one! I used my Creative Memories Oval cutter, and Label 1 Nestabilities, so there was no measuring!!

Still very cold here, but the birds were singing like a spring day when I arrived home from work. And, it's staying lighter in the evenings!!! About three and a half weeks and my daffodils should be blooming!!!

Split Screen

Another day, another StampTV challenge card! Melanie issued a challenge to make a card using a split screen image. This was something I have not done before, and it was a fun card to make! Right away I thought of using this little giraffe from Hero Arts...and to say something with "Stretching" for the giraffe's long neck!! I'm goofy that way! From PTI I used Lemon Tart as my card base, and Summer Sunrise for the back of the image panel. I had to hand write the sentiment, (Stretching across the miles......to say, "Hello!") as the cardstock will not run through my printer. Button is from PTI, and the gold flowers were a gift. I had a different piece of DP all picked out, and when I went to put things together, this Digi piece from Gina K was laying there from yesterdays card, and I used up the scrap. Then I thought...oh tee hee hee, these are Gina K colors of the yellow, green, and a bit of orange!!! Didn't plan that at all, just one of those coincidences!
